Why correction changes the training
You can learn a surprising amount about Practical Method by watching.
But eventually there's a problem.
A movement can look right and still be doing something quite different internally.
That's where correction and physical testing become useful.
An instructor can identify something you may not be able to see yourself. A training partner or physical object can provide resistance. You can then feel whether changing one part of the movement actually changes the result.
That's also why I wouldn't ask you to decide whether you want to learn Practical Method purely from these emails.
If the ideas have interested you, the next step is much simpler:
Experience one class and decide afterwards.
If you're in Sydney
Come to a Sunday class in Kirribilli and experience the training directly. Your first class is complimentary, and there's no obligation to continue.
If you can't regularly train in Sydney
Our Tuesday online classes let you work on foundations, Yilu and movement corrections live, with access to the class recording afterwards.
Some things — particularly touch and partner testing — need to be experienced in person. But there's still a great deal we can work on remotely.
You don't need to decide whether Practical Method is something you want to pursue long term.
Experience the training first. Decide afterwards.
If it suits you, continue.
If it doesn't, you've lost little more than an hour or two and you've learned something interesting about a different approach to movement.
